Changing NTFS folder security settings

The following screen shots illustrate how to change the folder security settings in NTFS file system so existing folders or files can become visible when shared over the LAN via the NAS 4.0 adapter. The screen shots were taken from Windows 7 64-bit edition. Windows XP Professional edition uses similar procedures. For Windows XP Home edition, the system must be booted into SAFE mode in order to access these security settings.

1. Right click on the folder that you want to change the secruity setting and select Property option

 

2. Under the Proterty windows, select the Security tab and click on the Advanced button

3. Under the Advanced security window, select the Permissions tab and click on the Change permissions button

 

4. Enables the two permission options near the bottom of the Advanced Security Settings window by checking the two boxes
