This 4-port external USB 3.0 hub is a simple solution for adding three more SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port via a single USB 3.0 port on any computer. Being backward compatible to USB 2.0 and USB 1.1, this USB 3.0 hub is also an ideal accessory for adding more USB ports to any legacy computer.
Installation is easy, simply plug the cable from the hub to any USB port on a computer. There is no software or driver to install. You can also daisy chain multiple of this USB 3.0 hubs to support a maximum of 256 USB devices.
* Power coming from the USB port on a computer varies depending on the system model and the USB standard. USB 3.0 minimum specification is 1A at 5V whereas USB 2.0 and 1.1 is 500 mA at 5V. The Addonics USB 3.0 hub can be powered by practically most USB ports. However there may be enough power to operate certain external USB hard drives or optical drives as more devices are attached to the hub. Attaching an external power adapter to the USB hub can mitigate this under power situation. When all four ports on the hub are attached with USB hard drives, the external power adapter may still not be adequate to power all four drives. It is recommended that the USB hard drive or optical drive to have its own power adapter when attach to a hub that is fully loaded.
