1:3 2.5" HDD/SSD Duplicator (HDUS325)

About the 2.5" HDD/SSD Duplicator Series

The Addonics family of 2.5" duplicator is an economical hard drive duplicator solution with choice of models for copying from three up to as many as eleven 2.5" SATA hard drive or SSD. There is no computer needed or complex software to operate. Just open the doors on the drive bays, load your master hard drive to the source bay and other hard drives of capacity equal or larger into the target bays, lock the drive doors and push the start button to start the copying process.

About This Model

The HDUS325 is a 1:3 2.5" HDD or SSD duplicator with integrated Snap-In Double Drive allowing hard drives to be easily added or removed from the system without any special tool, just like an ordinary VHS tape cartridge.

  • Copy up to three 2.5" SATA hard drives or SSD
  • Great for cloning hard drives, making backup hard drives, system upgrade and data distribution
  • Support any file system
  • Support any 2.5" SATA hard drive or SSD with thickness up to 12.7 mm
  • Can also be used for duplicating other flash media - M2, mSATA, CFast, CF, slim SATA and 1.8" HDD/SSD, using optional Addonics family of 2.5" Flash drive kit
  • Maximum drive size >3TB
  • Typical copying speed*

1 drive 3 drive
~ 105 MB/sec ~ 70 MB/sec
  • Drives are added into or removed directly from each drive bay without any special tool
  • Support any type of file format
  • Maximum drive size >3TB
  • Drive sanitization:
    • SECURE ERASE - HDD duplicator sends a WIPE command to the hard drive. This command fills 00 string to entire HDD
    • OVERWRITE - One pass, 3 passes and 7 passes 5220.22-M.  The duplicator writes a string of pattern over the entire disk one time, three times or seven times.5220.22-M is the DoD standard for drive sanitization
  • LCM control module provides a rich set of robust advanced configuration options (click Full LCD console feature list to see a complete list of this duplicator functions)
  • Operate as a stand alone appliance. No computer or software needed

The speed here is for reference only. The speed were measured basing on using 3.5" SATA III 250 GB hard drive for both source and target. The transfer rate varies depending on the speed of the source and destination drive

Current firmware version number: 1.61BQ

Firmware update procedure (Requires one hard drive containing the firmware file):

  1. Create a 50MB HDD partition with FAT/FAT32 or NTFS files system on any SATA hard drive
  2. Download the firmware and unzip the file to .BIN file format
  3. Copy the .BIN file onto the 50 MB partition of the HDD
  4. Insert this drive to the Source slot of the duplicator. For subsystem, connect the drive to the Source SATA port
  5. Select "Firmware Update" function under the "Setup" or "Advanced Setup" menu and press ENT to do the update. To access the "Advanced Setup", hold onto the ESC button for 5 seconds. The new option will appear
  6. Once completed, it will reboot and show you the new firmware version

Notes for the new firmware:

  • Added drive sanitization feature using the SECURE ERASE and OVERWRITE functions. The new functions are found under the Advance set up menu. These two functions apply to both source and target drive when the drives are present.
  • SECURE ERASE - HDD duplicator sends a WIPE command to the hard drive. This command fills 00 string to entire HDD
  • OVERWRITE - There are three options: One pass, 3 passes and 7 passes 5220.22-M.  The duplicator writes a string of pattern over the entire disk one time, three times or seven times. (5220.22-M is the DoD standard for drive sanitization)

Please note that some drives may become locked and cannot be initialized after the SECURE ERASE or OVERWRITE. Should this happen, use the following procedures to unlock the drive:

  1. Place drive in the source slot
  2. Execute "PreScan" function for 1 minute
  3. Press "ESC" key until you see "User Abort" on the LCD screen
  4. Now remove the drive from the duplicator and connect it to your system, the HDD should be recognized and be able to initialize again
