I have the LS-120 but when I boot it reads that the LS-120 (ATAPI FLOPPY) was
not found.
a. Try booting the with the LS-120 in the other socket.
b. Using a test editor, change the line in the CONFIG.SYS that reads.
DEVICE=C:\PCMIDE\STATPFLPSYS to read
DEVICE=C:\PCMIDE\STATPFLP.SYS /Q0
c. Try booting with the LS-120 in the other socket
d. Try booting with the power adapter attached to the LS-120 in all sockets.
e. The enabler cannot properly load the socket on the computer. You will need
to contact the manufacturer to assist you on loading the DOS Card Services for
your computer.
-
During the installation of the DOS drivers ( DOSSETUP ), it loops into a circle
and won't install.
During the installation, enter the source and destination. When you have to
select the device to install, highlight ATAPI FLOPPY and hit the SPACE BAR to
select the driver. A block will appear next to ATAPI FLOPPY. Hit ENTER to
proceed and the installation will complete.
-
I'm having trouble installing and would like to manually install the drivers.

corresponding drive lines for The CONFIG.SYS..
CONFIG.SYS
DEVICE=<DRIVE>:\<PATH>\PCMI80CL.SYS /QA
DEVICE=<DRIVE>:\<PATH>\STATPFLP.SYS
For example:
DEVICE=C:\PCMIDE\PCMI80CL.SYS /QA
DEVICE=C:\PCMIDE\STATPFLP.SYS
Once you have the files created. Make sure to copy the files to the destination
that matches the paths in the CONFIG.SYS.

How can I use my LS-120 with my computer's Norton's recovery?
You will not be able to use the Norton LS-120 backup. The problem is within the
Norton software. It assumes you are using a parallel or internal LS-120. It
does not load PCMCIA card services. Thus, the computer does not know that there
is a LS-120 on the system.
-
I get a fatal exception on esdi.vxd when I try to use the LS-120.
It is a known problem in Windows 95. You will need to go to Microsoft's page and
look up the article Q153471. The patch file to download is called REMIDEUP.EXE.
-
When I boot the system I get the error message "Can't get IO address"
You have a DOS card service loading in the CONFIG.SYS. Using a text editor, edit
the CONFIG.SYS and place REM before each card service line.
-
I get the error message "No CIS detected" when I boot.
The enabler that the LS-120 is using will not work with your computer. You will
need to install the DOS Card Services for you computer. Please contact your
computer manufacturer to obtain a copy of this program if you do not have it.

I have SHINING detected in the socket not STANDARD IDE/ESDI HARD DISK
CONTROLLER.
Windows did not detect the proper driver. Go to the device manager and open the
hard disk controllers category. Double click on SHINING and select the drivers
tab. Choose UPDATE/CHANGE DRIVER. Let Windows search. If it is unable to find
it manually find it. The driver is the STANDARD IDE/ESDI HARD DISK CONTROLLER.
Once it reports that it is selected, choose OK or Close to install the driver.
-
I can't eject the disk, and the light on the tray just keeps blinking.
There is insufficient power for the LS-120 to operate. Since some of the
lab-top's PCMCIA slot does not provide enough power. So attach the power cable
to the LS-120, set the switch in the rear of the drive to AC/DC and eject the
disc.
-
I can't eject and the drive only clicks.
Make sure that there is power attached to the LS-120. Set the switch to AC/DC.
If the disc still will not eject, use a paper clip to manually eject the disc.
You can insert the paper clip through the hole in the eject button.

PC-Card does not autodetect.
Make sure that the card is facing the correct direction (using with the blue
Addonics label up). Insert the card into the socket. Make sure it is securely
placed the entire way into the socket. Try all sockets. Verify that that there
aren't any pins that are bent on the rear of the drive. Make sure that the
sockets are properly loaded. In DOS it will report no PCCARD found. In Windows
9x go to the control panel then double click on PCCARD to see what is in the
computer's sockets. If it is unable to detect, the socket will read SOCKET 1 or
SOCKET 2.

The LS-120 is installed in WIN 9x but there isn't any driver letter for the
LS-120.
Please follow the steps below:
1. Make sure that the STANDARD IDE/ESDI is seen in the PCCARD properties
2. Make sure that the DOS drivers are not installed in the CONFIG.SYS.
3. Go to the device manager. Make sure that there are no yellow or red flags. If
there are, please resolve the conflicts/errors.
4. Go to hard disk controllers and double click on STANDARD IDE/ESDI HARD DISK
CONTROLLERS. Go to the RESOURCES tab and click on it. Make sure that the
Interrupt Request is set to 9, 10, or 11. ( To change the IRQ, take the check
out of USE AUTOMATIC SETTINGS and double click on Interrupt Request. A box will
appear to set the IRQ )
-
I have a conflict on the driver, how do I get rid of it.
First, go to the device manager and double click on COMPUTER at the top of the
list. Take not of the IRQs in the list that are missing. You will need an IRQ
from 9-11 for the LS-120 to work. If none are free, you will need to move what
is listed there to make room. Once you have a place for the LS-120, go to the
hard disk controllers in the device manager. Double click on STANDARD IDE/ESDI
HARD DISK CONTROLLERS. Go to the RESOURCES tab and click on it. Make sure that
the Interrupt Request is set to the free IRQ. ( To change the IRQ, take the

I try to save information to the LS-120 disk and it won't save and reports disk
full.
With the disk in the drive, run FDISK. Change the current drive and select the
drive letter that corresponds to the drive letter. Make sure that there is only
one partition set on the drive (96MB). If there is more then one, you will need
to remove all partitions and create one single large partition. Please note
that when deleting partitions and creating new ones, you will lose all data on
the disk. Once back in windows, you will need to format the disk in order to
use it.

I'm trying to power the LS-120 off the socket but it won't work.
Please make sure the switch in the rear of the drive is set to PCMCIA. You will
have a green light on the top of the drive is there is sufficient power. If the
switch is set to PCMCIA and the light is red, you will need external power. To
make sure if you computer should be able to power the LS-120 off the socket,
please compare the power requirements to what you computer's sockets provide.
-
The LS-120 was working but not turns files to garbled/corrupted.
Try using the power adapter with the LS-120. Make sure the LS-120 is set to use
PCMCIA power on the rear of the drive. If the information on the drive is still
garbled/corrupted the heads are out of alignment.
-
I can't open the tray, it doesn't even try to eject the tray.
The PC-Card needs to be initialized in order for the tray to open. You can use
the manual emergency tray release ( the small hole on the face of the LS-120 ).
Use a paper clip or like object to release the tray.

event viewer.
Please refer to NT 4.0 Troubleshooting.
-
When I install the LS-120 in NT 4.0, I get 'STATPNT has an overlapping I/O
region with SCSI_PORT#
The drive is conflicting with the port that it is attached. You can try to
eliminate the error message by going to START\RUN\SYSEDIT. Go to H_KEY LOCAL
MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL SET\SERVICES\PCMCIA. With PCMCIA highlighted, go
to the right side and double click on INTERRUPT MASK. A value box will appear
with the current value. Change it to read 5A81. If that does not get rid of the
message and the drive still works, there is no other way to eliminate the
message. If the CD-ROM is not functioning, please refer to NT 4.0
Troubleshooting.
-
STATPNT is started but I don't get a drive letter.
Go to the disk administrator and assign the drive letter (under Tools). If you
are unable to, go to the control panel and double click on devices. Go down to

My LS-120 reads the 3 1?" floppy but can't read the LS-120 diskettes.
Make sure that the power adapter is attached to the drive and the switch is set
to AC/DC in the rear of the drive. If power does not resolve the issue, the
LS-120 is not recognizing the media properly. It is most likely a physical
defect.

I'm using my LS-120 through the USB port and the drive letter is not loading but
drivers are Installed.
Make sure that the cabling is secure. The LS-120 will need AC/DC power. Set the
switch on the rear of the drive to AC/DC and attach the power adapter. The
power adapter and switch need to be set properly on the LS-120 before attaching
it to the computer. Lastly, make sure that you are using the latest drivers
from http://www.addonics.com/support/download/

Will my USB LS-120 work in NT 4.0 , DOS, Windows 3.1 and Windows95 or Windows
CE?
USB is not a supported technology in DOS, Windows 3.1, or NT 4.0. Windows95 did
not originally support USB. The patch does allow USB support in 95 but is not
stable enough to run the LS-120. At the present time, there aren't any Windows
CE drivers for USB.
